Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing includes our emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. It affects how we feel, think and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make decisions. Mental wellbeing is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Most people know how to look after their physical wellbeing. Students regularly take part in physical exercise and receive advice on healthy eating and avoiding illnesses. Yet teachers might be less clear about how to look after their mental wellbeing or that of their students.
